Use Signal from Claude or ChatGPT

Signal works inside the AI assistant you already use. Connect it once and ask questions about your website in plain words:

  • "How many people from last week's newsletter visited the pricing page, and how deep did they go?"
  • "Which leads should I follow up today?"
  • "How often did we show the Black Friday promo, and how many people took it?"
  • "Anything I should know about this week?"

The assistant answers from the same numbers as your Signal dashboard. It can also prepare drafts (popup texts, follow-up emails, promos). You check them in Signal and publish them yourself. It never changes what visitors see on its own.

Connect

You need a Signal account and to be a member of at least one project.

Claude (claude.ai, the desktop app or the phone app):

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it "Signal" and enter https://app.try-signal.com/mcp.
  3. Choose Connect. Signal opens: sign in as usual.
  4. Pick the projects Claude may see. Tick Also prepare drafts if you want it to prepare changes for you.
  5. Choose Allow. You're back in Claude, connected.

ChatGPT: add Signal as a connector in ChatGPT's settings, with the same address, https://app.try-signal.com/mcp. Sign in and choose your projects the same way.

Claude Code and other MCP clients: add a remote MCP server with the address https://app.try-signal.com/mcp. The client signs you in through Signal in your browser.

What it can read

Ask about What you get
Numbers Visitors, visits, pageviews, pages per visit, reading time, bounce rate, leads, conversion and revenue for any period, filtered by campaign, source, page, country, device and more, compared with the period before
Trends and breakdowns The same numbers per day, week or month; the top pages, sources, campaigns, countries or reasons for visiting
The funnel Visitors → offered something → chose → left contact details → won
Right now How many people are on the site and on which pages
Leads Who left contact details, booked or asked for a call, with what they did and where they came from
One visitor Their visits, what they read, the reason Signal read, offers, outcomes and their chat
Chats Which chats wait for an answer
Promos and offers How often each was shown, closed, chosen and acted on
Follow-ups Each sequence's results per email, and how many people are at each step
Warnings Leads not followed up, failing integrations, Signal not seeing visits, unanswered chats, bounced emails, plan usage and the trial ending
Your setup The reasons Signal reads, its questions, offers, promos, follow-ups and popup look

A coupon is counted through the promo it's in. Signal has no coupon codes of its own, so "how many took the coupon" is how many acted on its promo.

Drafts, not changes

With Also prepare drafts ticked, the assistant can prepare:

  • popup texts and look;
  • follow-up email sequences;
  • promos.

It puts them in the same draft you'd edit in Signal, and Signal shows who prepared it, e.g. "Prepared by Claude for Vincent". You review it there and choose Publish or Discard.

It never publishes, never switches anything on or off, never sends emails or chat replies, and never changes settings, members, keys or billing. If someone on your team is editing the same draft in Signal at that moment, the assistant waits.

Your visitors' details

The assistant sees what you can see in Signal for the projects you picked, with one difference: contact details stay in Signal.

  • It gets a visitor's first name, never their email address, phone number, full name, company or postcode. Each visitor comes with a link that opens them in Signal, where you see their details as usual.
  • Anything a visitor typed (a chat message, an answer, a form message) reaches the assistant marked as the visitor's own words, with email addresses and phone numbers masked. The assistant reads it as information, not as instructions.

What you ask and what the assistant reads goes to that assistant's provider (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) under your own agreement with them.

Who can do what

  • The assistant acts as you. It sees only the projects you picked when you connected, and only while you're still a member of them.
  • If an owner removes you from a project, your assistant loses that project at once.

Disconnect

  • Your own: in Signal, open Account → Connected apps and choose Disconnect. You can also remove the connector in Claude or ChatGPT.
  • On your project (owners): Settings → Assistants lists every assistant that can see the project, whoever connected it. Remove takes only this project away from it.

Troubleshooting

  • "We don't recognise this app": start the connection again from your assistant. The sign-in link only works when the assistant starts it.
  • "This sign-in took too long": sign-ins expire after 10 minutes. Start again.
  • "This connection can't see any Signal project now": you were removed from the projects you picked, or they were deleted. Disconnect, then connect again and pick a project.
  • "Someone is editing this draft in the dashboard right now": a teammate is changing the same draft. Try again later, or ask them.
  • It asks which project: you picked more than one, so name the project or its website in your question.
